Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, praised, on Saturday, the leadership of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in favor of the Nation, highlighting the achievements and notable political, economic, social and diplomatic relevance of the country in 2025.
When speaking at the New Year greeting ceremony for the Presidential Couple, Esperança da Costa conveyed words of appreciation and recognition for the leadership of President João Lourenço, in a year she considered to have been marked by achievements and notable political, economic, social and diplomatic relevance for Angola.
The Vice-President recalled that Angola assumed, in February, the rotating presidency of the African Union and marked 50 years of its Independence under the sign of freedom, peace, fraternity and well-being of the Angolan people.
She also highlighted the awarding that honored various strata of Angolan society, within the framework of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
Economic growth
The Vice-President said that despite the difficult global economic scenario, Angola has recorded growth rates that give hope to the people who have witnessed, in this mandate, the vigorous construction of infrastructures throughout the country, the rehabilitation and construction of roads, the equipping of hospitals and schools, the expansion of the electrical, port and airport system and the development of the Lobito Corridor.
According to the leader, under the leadership of João Lourenço the country assumed an international role worth highlighting.
In this regard, she highlighted the holding in the country of the US-Africa and African Union-European Union summits, to in addition to the participation of President João Lourenço in high-level international events.
Esperança da Costa considered the participation of the Angolan President and the African Union in these events as unequivocal examples of their engagement and defense of a fair, balanced and supportive world order, without neglecting the issue of Africa’s inclusion in the United Nations Security Council.
She also expressed recognition the President’s dedication for peace in Africa and the world, and for the sense of State for the Nation’s issues, with emphasis on sustainable development, the fight against corruption, economic diversification and the strengthening of the social sector and the technological sector.
“We believe in your firm desire to see Angola increasingly developed, a strong, cohesive and self-sufficient Angola. Our unconditional support for the challenges of today and the future”, Esperança da Costa said, wishing the Presidential Couple a prosperous new year.
The President of the Republic thanked the Vice President for her words and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working, with all his commitment, for a prosperous country.
The annual tradition of New Year’s Eve greetings, which this year took place at the Protocol Complex of the Presidency of the Republic, in Luanda, turned into a memorable celebration, highlighting the diversity and unity that characterize Angola.
Several personalities from Angolan society, political, economic, cultural and religious circles were present at the ceremony, which culminated with a celebration dinner.
