Africa-Press – Angola. The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and TotalEnergies announced the final investment decision of US$850 million for the CLOV Phase 3 development, with the potential to add 30,000 barrels of oil per day to production in Block 17. , according to a statement issued, is Thursday, by the national hydrocarbon concessionaire.

The CLOV Phase 3 development, deployed in the deep offshore of Block 17, 150 kilometers off the Angolan coast, is an extension of the subsea production network and the interconnection to the floating production and storage unit (FPSO), to sustain the production of the field, started in 2014.

This new component, notes the ANPG document, is the first to benefit from the standardization of subsea equipment in Block 17, thanks to contractual and engineering options that represent a cost reduction that ends up benefiting the portfolio of short-cycle projects in the fields of the Block.

For the chairman of the ANPG Board of Directors, Paulino Jerónimo, the decision “will clearly contribute to Angola maintaining its national production levels, as well as to the optimization of existing facilities and resources.

“This development will maximize the use of the existing CLOV infrastructure, allowing the production of oil at less cost and with less carbon intensity, in line with TotalEnergies’ strategy”, said the managing director of TotalEnergies EP Angola.

Olivier Jouny insists that the project “opens a new cycle in Block 17, in which the standardization of subsea equipment for future developments will bring a cost reduction of around 20 percent and may generate opportunities to maintain production in other FPSOs”.
