Luele Aims to Produce Nine Million Carats of Diamonds by 2026

Africa-Press – Angola. The Luele Mining Company expects to produce nine million carats of diamonds by 2026, which is a 43% increase from 2025, said Rómulo Mucase, the executive administrator of the diamond company, on Wednesday.

During the end-of-year greetings ceremony, Mucase said that despite the fall in diamond market prices, the company expects to complete the community resettlement process and advance in the certification of the ISO 37301 standard relating to the Compliance Management System.

Mucase stated that the company will remain firm in its commitment to environmental, social, and governance care, focusing on responsible mining, communities, human capital, and the sustainable economic growth of the country.

The manager said that the results achieved over the past year were positive and structural, consolidating Luele’s position as a strategic player in the Angolan diamond sector.

He mentioned several achievements in 2025, emphasizing the consolidation of geological and mining operations. These operations developed harmoniously in accordance with established plans, achieving a satisfactory level of compliance with main production indicators, from overburden removal to diamond recovery.

Mucase also highlighted Luele’s achievement of the Integrated Management System (IMS) certification, which aligns the company with international best practices and reinforces the credibility of the national mining sector. This certification includes ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) standards.

Significant advances in technological investment were also achieved, including the development of geological studies and the commissioning of the second mill, which will allow for a significant increase in production starting in 2026. Additionally, the mining equipment fleet was renewed.

The construction of 350 homes, social infrastructure, and associated productive projects will benefit more than 2,000 people and constitute a significant milestone in social transformation. Completion is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

Rómulo Mucase said that the employment rate stands out as well. It allowed for the creation of approximately 3,300 jobs, mostly filled by local youth. The company also stands out for its rigorous compliance with tax obligations.

He urged employees and collaborators to focus, dedicate themselves, and approach their work with a sense of mission to contribute positively to the development of the company and the country.

Up to the end of 2024, Luele had already removed 47.7 million cubic meters of waste rock, extracted 8.1 million tons of ore, and recovered 11.7 million carats of diamonds.
