Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, has praised the ‘Pembat’ Integrated Poultry Production Complex, located on the outskirts of Benguela city, as it shows that chickens can be produced in Angola within a 30-day cycle.
The minister made the statement at the inauguration of three significant agro-industrial projects in Benguela province: the egg and broiler chicken production unit; the pig and goat slaughterhouse in Asseque; and the tomato processing plant in Dombe Grande.
“Today is a day of great satisfaction because Benguela, which always welcomes us with great affection, is once again showing that it is possible to produce and process chicken locally in 30 days,” the minister said.
According to the minister, the poultry complex will create jobs and generate income, as well as strengthening the national production chain.
He also highlighted the initiative of a young man from the financial sector who invested in the construction of a slaughterhouse for pigs and goats.
“These two young people and their ventures are important for our province. In addition, the Dombe Grande tomato factory has been reactivated with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Minister dos Anjos announced that the government will progressively reduce pork and poultry imports to protect national production.
