Africa-Press – Angola. African financial institutions are aligning strategies aimed at the growth and development of the economy in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region, the Angolan minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, assured on Thursday in Luanda.

The official, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the SADC Development Finance Institutions CEOs Forum, said that the main objective of the meeting is to align all financial institutions in the region for engagement and growth of the continent’s economy.

To him, the forum represents an opportunity for Africa to discuss and find ways to finance its development projects, with the aim of achieving good results.

“There are resources available, as financial institutions show interest in financing African projects”, he revealed.

The official reaffirmed that SADC is working on integration and seeking funding from various institutions, including the Development Bank of Angola (BDA), the World Bank (WB), and the European Union (EU), in addition to promoting self-financing among African countries, which attracts more financial support.

At the time, the CEO of the BDA João Salvador Quintas, emphasized that this meeting is essential for Angola, and that the bank plays an important role in this process, focusing its financing on fishing and agriculture in 2026, after a restructuring phase.

According to João Quintas, the BDA is working to improve compliance and the quality of new loans, focusing on projects with potential for success.

“I think this forum is an incentive for multilateral and bilateral institutions to participate and contribute even more to the development of the continent”, he said.
