India Wishes to Expand Cooperation with Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. India’s ambassador to Angola, Vihhu Nair, announced on Tuesday (17) in the province of Cuanza-Norte, his country’s willingness to expand bilateral cooperation with Angola in the areas of education, agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, fisheries, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

The intention was expressed during a meeting with the local governor, João Diogo Gaspar, highlighting that his country also wishes to expand cooperation in the areas of minerals, tourism, AI and techs.

Vihhu Nair stated that the province has significant potential in all areas in which India intends to collaborate and that there are many Indian companies interested in investing in Angola in the agricultural sector.

The diplomat explained that his country is willing to continue training young Angolans in different areas of knowledge for the transfer of know-how and to include students from Cuanza-Norte in training programs.

He added that, within the framework of bilateral cooperation, India is open to the transfer of knowledge and the facilitated travel of Angolan entrepreneurs to Asia for partnerships with local investors.

According to the ambassador, bilateral cooperation between the two countries has been strengthening, and his government notes that Angola has a great willingness to engage in this partnership.

Currently, India is one of the major exporters of pharmaceutical and medical products, as well as products from the technology and automotive sectors.

At the meeting, the governor of Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, mentioned the economic potential of the province, highlighting the agricultural, tourism, and mining sectors, and that the government has prepared 10,000 hectares in each of the 17 municipalities and four irrigated perimeters for private investment.

He emphasized that the geographical location of the province is considered a hub, with access by air, land, and rail, and because it borders other locations with great economic potential, such as Luanda, Malange, Uige, and the east of the country.

He indicated that the province’s strong interest in private investment aims to boost the local and national economy, as well as food self-sufficiency.

In Cuanza-Norte, the Indian diplomat also met with a group of businesspeople interested in partnering with his country.
