Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice President of Angola, Esperança Costa, paid tribute on Thursday in Luanda to deputy Josefina Ndesipewa Gomes, who passed away on February 13 of illness, considering her one of the staunchest defenders of the freedom of the Angolan people.
After signing the book of condolences during the funeral ceremony held at the Headquarters of the Angolan Armed Forces, the Vice-President noted that “Angola has lost one of its best daughters, a woman, a warrior, a patriot, a defender of the most disadvantaged, of family unity and national cohesion.”
The Vice-president her legacy of political pluralism and the fight against all forms of segregation and violence against women remains in the collective memory of the country.
Born on November 18, 1962, in the municipality of Ombandja, Cunene province, Josefina Ndesipewa began her political career in 1975 in her hometown, joining the OPA and later the JMPLA youth wing, where she was elected a member of the provincial secretariat.
Throughout her life, she engaged in various political and social projects, notably her integration into the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) and others supporting abandoned children.
In addition to being a member of the National Assembly, she was also a member of the MPLA Central Committee and its Political Bureau.
