Africa-Press – Angola. The 2026 General State Budget foresees, for the central province of Bié, a budgetary allocation of 35.78 million kwanzas (USD1 = 912 Kz) for the start of the execution of the facelift and reconversion project of the city of Cuito and the commune of Cunje.

The project, whose execution was authorized in 2024 by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, through Presidential Decree No. 46/24, of Feb 2, is valued at 202.8 billion kwanzas.

Included in the Public Investment Program, the undertaking also foresees financing in the order of 5.3 billion kwanzas for inspection services.

The project is part of a vast program of integrated infrastructure construction, urban renovation and reconversion at the national level, initiated by the Ministry of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, in coordination with the provincial governments.

In recent statements to the press, the Bié Vice-Governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, José Fernando Tchatuvela, confirmed the start of the works for the current year.

The official explained that the project will not yet reach its full implementation due to some preliminary procedures that are being observed.

He added that in this early stage, maintenance and conservation work will be carried out on some roads in the urban and peri-urban centers of the two towns, as well as improvements to the appearance of some public infrastructure.

The 2026 State Budget for Bié with an increase of over 82 billion kwanzas

The total value of the 2026 State General Budget (OGE) for the province of Bié is 308 billion 481 million 307 thousand and 148 kwanzas, registering an increase of 82 billion 346 million 013 thousand and 552, compared to the previous year.
