Africa-Press – Angola. The draft laws for the approval of the Military Discipline Code and the Military Careers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) will go to a final global vote next Thursday (26), in an extraordinary plenary session of the National Assembly.
This information was announced this Friday by the first secretary of the National Assembly, Manuel Dembo, at the end of the Conference of Parliamentary Leaders, chaired by the president of the sovereign body, Adão de Almeida.
The Military Discipline Code, a legislative initiative of the Executive, aims to adapt the legal regime of military discipline to the 2010 Constitution, as well as to provide the FAA with a modern and updated legal instrument, capable of ensuring hierarchy, discipline and obedience within the institution, considered fundamental prerequisites for the fulfillment of its constitutional mission of defending the country.
In turn, the changes to the Military Careers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) arise from the need to include all situations related to personnel management with regard to the career progression system, aiming for a timely and comprehensive National Defense legislative structure that aligns with the new management paradigm and is compatible with the ongoing restructuring and resizing.At the Extraordinary Plenary Meeting on the 26th, the deputies will also proceed with the final overall vote on the draft laws for the creation of the Pingano and Morro do Moco Conservation Areas.
The Plenary will also discuss and vote on a request for legislative authorization submitted by the President of the Republic, as Head of the Executive Branch, to legislate on the Legal Regime Applicable to the Special Contribution for Tourism.
Similarly, it will proceed with the discussion and vote, in general, on the Draft Law on the Statute of Angolan Sign Language, as well as the Draft Law amending the Organic Law of the Supreme Military Court.
In addition, two draft resolutions on requests for authorization for the adoption of minors will be submitted to the legislators for consideration.
At this meeting, the draft resolutions on the creation of the National Group of the Southern Parliament (Parla-Sul), the Activity Report for the period from October 2024 to October 2025, and the Activity Plan for October 2025 to October 2026 of the Interparliamentary Group of the National Assembly will also be voted on.
Interparliamentary GroupThe Conference of Presidents of Parliamentary Groups has scheduled the First Ordinary Meeting of the Interparliamentary Group of the National Assembly for the 25th of this month. This body is responsible for promoting international relations and interparliamentary cooperation with other parliaments and international organizations.
