Africa-Press – Angola. The Kenyan government expressed, on Thursday (19,) its intention to acquire the services available on the Angola Satellite, Angosat-2, through its Ku-band, particularly broadband internet, mobile telephony, radio broadcasting, and TV.

According to a press release, the Kenyan official’s interest was expressed during an audience he granted to the delegation from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS), which worked in Nairobi for 4 days to exchange experiences with professionals in the sector.

Also included among the services of interest are the intelligent solutions developed by the Geospatial Data Center (GEDAE), to support key sectors of the country’s national economy of that Country.

According to the document, the Angolan delegation’s visit took place within the framework of the joint technical committee in the field of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media between Angola and Kenya.

On the occasion, John Tanui, quoted in the note, said that they are interested in Angola’s experience and consultancy for the materialization of Kenya’s first satellite in orbit, a project already underway between Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

On the other hand, he also mentioned that he will mobilize the institutions that operate in the field of Telecommunications and ITs to participate in the 7th Edition of ANGOTIC-2026, an International Forum on Information and Communication Technologies of Angola, taking place from June 11 to 13, in Luanda, and emphasized that Kenya will be represented at the highest level of this sector.

In turn, the coordinator of the Angolan delegation and national director of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Matias Borges, considered it a positive visit, emphasizing that they are leaving the Kenyan capital with good impression after observing the operations of Safaricom, Kenya’s largest mobile telecommunications operator, the Digital Health Agency, and the Data Protection Office.

The delegation also visited the optic fiber factory, where officials expressed interest in expanding this business and working with Angolan companies.

For this mission, the Angolan delegation includes the coordinator of the National Space Education Program of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Lumonansoni Eduardo André, the coordinator of the Department of Studies and Technological Evolution and Information of the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM), Bruno dos Santos, and the senior technician of the Department of Market Regulation and Universal Service of INACOM, Belsizario Abílio.
