Africa-Press – Angola. Benguela province has 167 projects registered in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), valued at 32 billion, 934 million, 493 thousand and 95 Kwanzas, according to the director of the Provincial Office of Studies and Planning (GEPE), João Cafiete .

Of the 167 projects, 88 are ongoing, while 26 are already completed. The members of the provincial government made an X-ray of the municipalities of Ganda, Cubal, Caimbambo and Chongoroi, with emphasis on the sectors of Education, Health, Public Security, Energy and Water, Agriculture, Basic Sanitation and Communications.

They paid particular attention to the Education Sector in the province of Benguela, due to the need to strengthen the school network, as more students are planned to be included in the education system. The announcement of the number of projects registered in the PIIM was revealed, on Thursday, to members of the provincial government, during the second ordinary meeting of that body, held in the municipality of Ganda.

Among the subjects under discussion were also the works of integrated infrastructure in the cities of Benguela, Lobito, Catumbela and Baía Farta. The issue of illegal occupation of land was also reviewed, due to the implication in the management of Municipal Administrations.

To this end, the authorities decided to implement actions with a view to safeguarding the existing Master Plans, in order to allow the harmonious growth of cities.

The province of Benguela has a territorial extension of 39,827 square kilometers and has 10 municipalities, namely Benguela (headquarters), Lobito, Catumbela, Baía Farta, Bocoio, Balombo, Caimbambo, Cubal, Ganda and Chongoroi.
