Africa-Press – Angola. Health units in the eastern province of Moxico received on Friday (20) eight tons of essential medicines and consumable materials, in an initiative implemented by the Brilhante Foundation.

The symbolic handover ceremony took place at the “Gloria Masseca Infant-Maternal Center” in the city of Luena, and was attended by the vice-governor for political, social and economic issues, Elizabeth Ayala.

The director of the provincial health office, Tiago Mário, highlighted the initiative, which “may mitigate the need for medicines in the province’s health units, especially those at the primary level that have been experiencing a shortage of it.

“The essential medicine kits contain antibiotics for the treatment of infectious diseases, anti-malarials, antihypertensives, and serums for hydrating patients,” he detailed.

In turn, the General Director of the Brilhante Foundation, Bruno Dos Santos, stated that the initiative represents the culmination of the first exercise that the foundation has carried out this initiative throughout the eastern region of the country.

The Moxico Province has more than 100 health units, including posts, centers, and hospitals.
