Africa-Press – Angola. The ruling MPLA party’s Political Agenda for 2026 defines two priority categories for action, placing the strengthening of internal life at the top, through the holding of the party’s IX Ordinary Congress.

The second category aims to strengthen the capacity for political mobilization and the quality of governmental action, preparing the party for the 2027 general elections.

Presented on Saturday (21) in Ndalatando City, northern province of Cuanza-Norte, by the MPLA vice-president, Mara Quiosa, representing the party leader, João Lourenço, the document is structured around 11 strategic axes.

The first one concerns strengthening the party’s unity, discipline, as well as unity and cohesion among MPLA militants, friends, and supporters.

The agenda also includes, as key points, holding the 9th Ordinary Congress of the party, strengthening the defense of the image and prestige of the MPLA and its leader, as well as providing the necessary support to the Executive Branch to carry out its governance with quality.

The document also reflects the need for the party to continue promoting the use of information technologies, with the use of artificial intelligence, in the party and in society, in order to foster development, sustainable innovation and technological education, among other points.

At the political event, MPLA also presents its commitment to the course of geopolitical changes in the world and especially in Africa, striving for the promotion and consolidation of the positive image of the party and the country in the defense of its interests and prestige in the international context.

According to Mara Quiosa, the Agenda outlines clearly structured tasks, as well as general and civic objectives aimed at strengthening the party and supporting the executive branch for the challenges ahead.

Mara Quiosa considered that the implementation of this agenda must be approached with a high sense of political responsibility, hard work and extreme dedication.

The successful implementation of the document, she added, will require the grassroots and intermediate structures, the party’s social organizations, associates, and party cadres and leaders to maintain constant contact with militants and the population, in order to listen to problems and seek solutions.

The mass political event to launch the MPLA 2026 Political Agenda took place under the slogan “MPLA 70 years: commitment to the people, confidence in the future.”

The meeting was attended by senior party leaders and the first provincial secretaries of the MPLA in Malange and Uige.
