Africa-Press – Angola. One thousand four hundred and thirty-eight citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were detained in the last 12 months by the Border Guard Police in Uíge for attempted violations of national territory.
The announcement was made on Saturday by the provincial commander of the National Police in Uíge, Commissioner Ernesto Haiyamunye, during the early ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the corporation’s creation.
Ernesto Haiyamunye said that, compared to the previous period, there was an increase of 755 detentions of citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The commissioner stated that the detention of the 1,438 Congolese citizens resulted from 375 cases of land and river violations, 100 fewer than in the previous period.
He mentioned that the cases occurred in the sub-units of Maquela do Zombo and Quimbele.
He further clarified that, during the same period, the corporation seized 15,827 liters of smuggled fuel, including 6,212 liters of gasoline, 4,615 liters of diesel, and 5,000 liters of kerosene.
The product was destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where it would be sold.
