Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have consolidated institutional cooperation to ensure protection mechanisms for Angolan and Congolese citizens residing in Lualaba.

This measure was announced during an audience granted to the Consul-General of Angola in Katanga, António Miala, by the Minister of Defense and Interior of Lualaba, Roy Kaumba.

The information is contained in a document from the Consulate General of the Republic of Angola in Katanga, Kolwezi, DRC, indicating that during the meeting, strategies were discussed to harmonize border operations and streamline access to visas for recurring citizens.

To ensure agility in managing migration issues, the implementation of an exchange channel to facilitate rapid and direct communication was suggested.

On Friday, during an official visit to the city of Kolwezi, diplomat António Miala met with the President of the Lualaba Provincial Assembly, Jean-Marie Kaseya, with whom he discussed strengthening the commitment of both countries in the pursuit of greater synergy and bilateral cooperation, the document indicates.

President of the Lualaba Assembly since February 2024, Jean-Marie Kaseya has been one of the key figures in the progress achieved in Lualaba.

In June 2025, he praised the numerous projects inaugurated in the region by President Félix Tshisekedi, including the Congress Village.

This meeting followed the reception, on Thursday, of António Miala by the governor of Lualaba province, Fifi Massuka.

Through strategic meetings in Lubumbashi, Kolwezi and Lualaba, the Consul General of Angola in Katanga has intensified his diplomatic agenda with local authorities to strengthen bilateral ties and establish a channel of proximity and continuous support for the Angolan community residing there.
