Africa-Press – Angola. Chess player Laurindo Missango became a five-time provincial champion in Moxico, after five wins, one draw, and one loss, in a competition that included 17 participants, among them two girls.

The athlete consolidated his superiority by defeating Simão Compia in the last game, securing the title for the fifth consecutive time, demonstrating his consistency and skill on the board. Mateus José came in second place, for the second season in a row, while Alione Muzangueno occupied the third position.

Organized by the Moxico Provincial Chess Association (APX Moxico), the competition was played in the Swiss/the province’s five representatives for Zone B.

In competitive terms, the “top 5” by Elo rating is led by Pascoal Horácio (1960), followed by Laurindo Missengo (1908), Sula José Mateus (1801), Alione Muzangueno (1794) and Donaldo Dikson (1790).

Historically, the championship has already crowned four different champions since 2018: João Batista (2018), Laurindo Missengo (2019, 2021, 2022, 2025 and 2027), Belinho Chitungo (2020) and Donaldo Dikson (2023 and 2024).
