Minister Confirms Conditions for 2026 E1 GP Championship

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, confirmed on Thursday that the necessary technical, security and logistical support has been arranged to ensure the success of the E1 League world championship for electric boats, which take place in Luanda Bay on 14 and 15 September.

Speaking to the press at the official launch of the event, the minister said that Luanda Bay would have ideal maritime and nautical safety conditions and that the entire certification process for the vessels and participating professionals would be coordinated.

“This is the beginning of a process. We will establish training opportunities and training schools so that we can have Angolan pilots participating in these competitions in the future,” said the minister.

When questioned about the presence of renowned international figures such as actor Will Smith, Ricardo de Abreu said that the choice of high-profile personalities is part of a strategy to promote the country.

He emphasized that events of this magnitude attract successful professionals from various fields, from sports to culture, who provide entertainment for the public while also projecting Angola’s image abroad.

Challenges and infrastructure

As part of the 24th anniversary celebrations of peace in Angola in April, the Minister of Transport emphasized that the country is experiencing a period of opportunity.

He stressed that peace has enabled infrastructure to be safeguarded and developed, a sector which is usually more affected during periods of conflict. He added that regional integration and strengthening links with neighboring countries are also priorities for the Angolan Executive.

Ricardo de Abreu highlighted that this event is being organized jointly by the Ministries of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Transport, and the Motorboat Federation.

“Holding this competition in the country’s capital consolidates Luanda as a destination,” he said. “It is capable of hosting prestigious international events,” said the minister.
