The secretary general of the Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA), Teixeira Cândido, considered, in Benguela, that journalists are duly prepared to provide exemplary electoral coverage, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic and the legal instruments that enshrine the profession.

Speaking to the press in Benguela, as part of the training action for 20 journalists from the various media bodies in matters about “coverage of the elections scheduled for August” and “Online Journalism”, he said that, despite some constraints that may arise , in the dynamics of journalistic activity, professionals are able to do their job well.

For Teixeira Cândido, ethics, exemption, impartiality, the collection of in-depth data on some important fact, respect for sources and a plurality of opinions should characterize the work of the journalist, in order to achieve excellence, within the scope of professional ethics.

According to the official, it is essential that journalists maintain a balance, in the face of various facts, from the activities of the parties that are vying for power, as well as the political actors themselves, that is, to be guided by an equidistant stance, but rather to work in for the homeland.

The action also included journalists from the province of Cuanza-Sul and was an initiative of the SJA, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America in Angola, within the scope of the media training strategy, for better coverage of the fifth elections. the current year in Angola.
