Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda concluded their participation in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifying tournament with a victory on Sunday, defeating the Johannesburg Giants 105–61 in Pretoria.
Played at the Sun Arena in South Africa as part of the Kalahari Conference, the game saw significant errors from both teams, with the home team attempting to overcome the favoritism of the Angolan team.
The scoreboard showed partial scores of 17–9 and 24–14 in the first and second quarters respectively, totaling 41–23 in favor of Petro at halftime.
Petro’s forward Aboubakar Gakou dominated this stage of the game with three-point shots, building a comfortable 18-point lead.
The third quarter ended 77–41.
In the fourth and final quarter, Petro de Luanda coach reduced the team’s intensity, especially their defensive pressure, but they remained eager to reach the ‘100-point mark’, which they achieved.
