Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administrator of Soyo, José Mendes Belo, praised, on Saturday, during the celebration of the 4th of April, Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, the progress made in projects in the oil and gas sectors in the locality.

Speaking to the press, at the end of the ceremony to lay a wreath on the bust of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, the official considered projects such as the Angola LNG liquefied gas processing plant in operation since 2016 as relevant milestones for the national economy.

He also referred to the recent inauguration, by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, of the project unit of the New Non-Associated Natural Gas Consortium of Quiluma and Maboqueiro in Soyo.

In the social field, José Mendes Belo highlighted the beginning of construction work on the new drinking water collection, treatment and distribution system, which should benefit, in the first phase, more than 90 thousand consumers.

He also mentioned the project for the future fertilizer factory, currently underway, and the construction of the new Instituto Superior Politécnico do Soyo, located in the Kitona neighborhood, which will have 40 classrooms.

The ongoing rehabilitation works on urban roads in Soyo were also highlighted, with the administrator ensuring that the Provincial Government of Zaire and the Municipal Administration will continue to work for the well-being of the population, considering it the best way to honor the memory of everyone who fought to achieve definitive peace in the country.

On that occasion, he condemned the acts of vandalism of public property perpetrated by unknown individuals, calling on the population to continue denouncing such practices.

The wreath-laying ceremony was witnessed by representatives of defense and security agencies, magistrates, traditional authorities and members of civil society.
