Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, will be sworn in on Thursday at the Concordia Stadium in Kintélé, north of the Congolese capital, in a ceremony that will be attended by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.
The inauguration ceremony will also bring together several statesmen and high-ranking international figures, some of whom have been in the capital, Brazzaville, since early this evening.
Among the invited Heads of State are also the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, the President of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby, the President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, as well as the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé.
In addition to the Heads of State, the ceremony will be attended by prime ministers, vice-presidents, presidents of African parliaments, as well as delegations from regional and continental organizations, notably the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the African Union (UN).
Special convoys from Europe, Asia, and the Americas are also expected to be present, in addition to thousands of citizens.
Government Program
Denis Sassou Nguesso was re-elected with approximately 94% of the vote and with that he began a new five-year term, framed within his governance program entitled “Accelerating the march towards development”, focused on the structural transformation of the national economy.
The presented plan is based on a simple idea which is to transform the political stability achieved over the years into visible economic progress and also to improve the living conditions for the population.
Thus, economic diversification emerges as one of the main priorities.
The Congolese Government wants to reduce the heavy dependence on oil investing in the agriculture, fishing, industry, and tourism sectors.
Denis Sassou Nguesso also foresees increased support for the private sector, with measures to facilitate access to credit, simplify administrative procedures, and attract foreign investment and also the modernization of roads, energy, and water supply, actions considered to be essential to sustain growth in that country.
As regards employment and social inclusion, job creation, especially for young people, occupies a central place in his new government program.
The program oft the president foresees investing in technical and vocational training and entrepreneurship as ways to reduce unemployment.
At the same time, the Government wants to strengthen social policies in the areas of health, education, and housing, with the aim of improving the well-being of families and reducing inequalities.
Governance and Institutional Reforms
On the political front, Denis Sassou Nguesso advocates strengthening good governance, with greater rigor in the management of public resources and in the fight against corruption.
Administrative decentralization emerges as another important axis, with the intention of bringing services closer to citizens and promoting local development.
Security and Stability
Maintaining peace and internal stability remains a priority.
The Government reaffirms its commitment to national security and regional cooperation, especially in combating transnational threats.
In this context, Congo maintains its active participation in organizations such as the ECCAS and advocates joint solutions to the challenges of the sub-region.
Environment and Sustainable Development
The program also includes measures related to environmental protection, with emphasis on the preservation of the Congo Basin forests and the promotion of sustainable development policies.
The authorities intend to reconcile economic growth with the conservation of natural resources, at a time when the country is also seeking to establish itself as a relevant player on the climate agenda.
