Africa-Press – Angola. The Brazilian government expressed its solidarity with the Angolan people on Wednesday, in Luanda, following the heavy rains that recently affected some regions of the country.
A statement from the Embassy of Brazil in Angola, states that the Brazilian government learned with deep concern of the heavy rains that affected western and central Angola, with emphasis on the city of Luanda and the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza Sul, Malanje, Icolo and Bengo.
The note adds that, given the devastating effects caused by natural phenomena, Brazil expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Angolan Government and people, especially the communities directly affected. It further states that Brazilian authorities are closely monitoring the evolving situation and emphasized the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in times of adversity, reiterating their institutional support for Angola in this context.
The Embassy statement reported that, so far, there are no records of Brazilian citizens among the victims, adding that the Brazilian Embassy and Consulate General in Angola are vigilant and available to provide consular assistance to their nationals if needed, having made an emergency contact available for this purpose.
The note emphasizes also that this expression of solidarity reinforces the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Brazil, highlighting the spirit of closeness that characterizes relations between the two countries.
