Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-one diamonds of different carats were seized in Cuango municipality, Lunda Norte province, by the National Police, through the Criminal Illicit Investigation department.
The information was provided Saturday, in Dundo, by the head of the Communication, Institutional and Press department of the provincial command of the National Police in Lunda Norte, Domingos Muafumo, stressing that the diamonds were in the possession of a 22-year-old citizen.
He said that the seizure of diamonds and consequent arrest of the citizen took place at a checkpoint in the municipality of Cuango.
The diamonds will be handed over to the Operation Transparency listing commission, while the citizen will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the formal prosecution of the crime of possession and illicit trafficking of the mineral resource.
