Africa-Press – Angola. Ninety-seven citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were questioned this Wednesday by the Border Guard Police in the province of Zaire, for attempting to illegally enter the national territory.

Speaking to the press this Thursday, the spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, explained that of this number, 58 are men and 39 are women questioned at the border posts of Buela, Luangu, Nóqui, Kinsende, Ntoyo, Kanga, Mpozo and Luvo.

According to the source, the aforementioned illegal immigrants intended to settle in the territory of the province of Zaire and then reach the country’s capital, Luanda.

“Others enter the national territory for commercial purposes and rampant slaughter of trees and animals”, he said.

Also on Wednesday, the Border Guard Police proceeded, in the river channel of Fuma Fuma, in the municipality of Soyo, to apprehend 1,150 liters of fuel for smuggling, as well as various products in the basic basket, for tax evasion.

Four municipalities in the province of Zaire, namely Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Cuimba and Nóqui share a border with the DRC, for a total of 310 kilometres.
