Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, developed, on Wednesday, intense social activity in the province of Huambo, with emphasis on the academic situation in the region and projects linked to the environment.

On a working visit to the central plateau, as part of the privileged monitoring of the Education, Higher Education and Environment sectors, Esperança da Costa consulted those responsible for areas linked to various organic units of the José Eduardo dos Santos University (UJES) and beyond.

After a meeting at the Government Palace, where she was informed about the socio-economic situation of the province, the Vice-PR followed a report on the work carried out by UJES and the state of play regarding traffic and traffic management in Huambo, considered worrying by the local delegate of the Ministry of the Interior, Manuel Gonçalves.

He then visited UJES, the Center for Tropical Ecology and Climate Change (CETAC), the Agricultural Research Institute, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the works of the future Bioveterinary and Animal Vaccine Production Center.

In all institutions, Esperança da Costa, who was accompanied, among other entities, by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Teixeira, received explanations about the state of operation, main difficulties and perspectives, as well as He visited the various areas on guided tours to see the infrastructure.

Among the x-rayed compartments, highlights include the food microbiology, molecular biology, food chemistry laboratories, the Food Production Technology Center (CEPTA) and the cold greenhouse, the latter located in a space of four and a half hectares, with a diversification of ornamental and forestry plants, the recovery career.

Book of honor

On the occasion, the Vice-President of the Republic signed the book of honor of the Rectory of the José Eduardo dos Santos University.

In her brief excerpt, the person responsible congratulated the institution for the progress made since its creation, which has manifested itself in the creation of new postgraduate courses, including doctorates.

“I also congratulate UJES for its effort and resilience in expanding its response to demand, but also in the permanent search for quality and excellence”, it reads.

The visit continues, this Thursday, with visits to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Cambiote University Center, the Huambo Municipal Hospital, the Professional Training Center of the Benguela Railway (CFB) and the Special Education School.
