Africa-Press – Angola. The presidents of UNITA and the Democratic Bloc expressed confidence in the United Patriotic Front (FPU), of which they both belong, and regretted the decision of PRA-JÁ Servir Angola to leave this Angolan opposition platform.

The statement, signed by the general coordinator of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, and the deputy general coordinator of the Democratic Bloc (BD), Filomeno Vieira Lopes, was released after a meeting on Wednesday between the two leaders to analyze the political situation in the country and the electoral platform Frente Patriótica Unida (FPU), which includes, in addition to these two parties, Abel Chivukuvuku’s PRA JÁ Servir Angola.

The leader of PRA-JA Servir Angola said at the closing of the party’s first congress that he had been mandated to prepare the party for the need to advance alone to the 2027 elections, leaving the idea of leaving the FPU in the air.

Today, in statements to Lusa, Abel Chivukuvuku stated that the party is open to political agreements for the 2027 elections, in a context “of coalition and never of aggregation”.

The presidents of UNITA and BD expressed “total confidence in the FPU, as a means of bringing Angolans together” in the next electoral contest and noted “with regret” the decision of PRA Já Servir Angola “to unilaterally abandon the FPU, suspending the agreements signed.

Abel Chivukuvuku was elected, on Monday, leader of PRA-JA Servir Angola, at the constitutive congress, which he considered “a moment of affirmation” of this new “unavoidable political force for the future of Angola”.

This new party, legalized in October 2024, according to its leader, aims to be the Government or part of it in 2027, stressing that the congress galvanized Angolans and the path now is “forward”.
