The deputy administrator for the Political, Social and Community area of ​​the municipality of Cuanhama, province of Cunene, Antonieta Gerson, highlighted, on Wednesday, the achievements of 22 years of peace, in terms of sustainable development, social inclusion and productive of communities.

Speaking at the municipal event in anticipation of the 22nd anniversary of Peace and National Reconciliation, which takes place on April 4, Antonieta Gerson said the gains in all areas were notable, which are improving the social living conditions of citizens.

The official said that, throughout this period, many infrastructures emerged, including schools, hospitals, housing, roads and water projects, the most recent being the Cafu canal, which is benefiting the population and livestock.

Still on this path, he mentioned the construction of the Ndue and Calucuve dams, in the municipality of Cuvelai, concrete gains that will boost the economic and social development of the municipality.

He recalled that as a result of this new era, the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty emerged, with concrete actions and prioritizing the well-being of citizens.

He called on citizens to preserve the gains of peace and national reconciliation, which is a patriotic duty that imposes itself on everyone regardless of political affiliation, origin, culture, race and religious belief.

On April 4th, the National Day of Peace and Reconciliation is celebrated in Angola , remembering the peace agreement signed in 2002 between the Government and UNITA.

Angola experienced a fratricidal war for many years that devastated a large part of the population, causing serious social and family problems, leaving many consequences in the lives of Angolans.

The municipality of Cuanhama, headquarters of the province of Cunene, has 360 thousand and 491 inhabitants.
