Africa-Press – Angola. The Administrator of the municipality of Viana, Demétrio de Sepúlveda, recommended this Monday, in Luanda, to residents to refrain from building homes in risk areas or on water lines, to avoid loss of human life.
The person in charge made this appeal during an awareness and communication campaign about the risks of disasters before, during and after the rains, having, on that occasion, asked the residents of the district to leave the risk areas.
He also asked residents to refrain from depositing solid waste in ditches, as they tend to hinder the flow of river waters.
Regarding the ravines that appear in this municipality, Demétrio Sepúlveda said that the Viana administration has already started to intervene, including cleaning the ditches.
On the occasion, the Luanda provincial commander of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, Flávio Chimbundi, informed that his institution will continue to work with citizens to avoid loss of human life during the rainy season.
The awareness campaign will involve the distribution of around three thousand informative pamphlets and will also cover the municipalities of Cacuaco, Cazenga and Kilamba Kiaxi.
