Africa-Press – Angola. Angola lost on Monday to South Africa, 1-2, in the first match of Group B of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) played at the Marrakech Stadium, in Morocco.
Appollis and Foster scored for the South African team, while Show scored for Angola, in a match whose referee was the Sudanese Mahmood Ismail.
It is important to highlight that this is the Angolan squad’s third defeat in this type of competition against South Africa (Bafana Bafana), having drawn twice.
South Africa coached by Belgian Hugo Broos has three points and provisionally leads the group, whose final match of the round, between Egypt and Zimbabwe, takes place tonight.
The Angolan squad (aka Sable Antelopes) coached by French national Patrice Beaumell are in last place with no points.
The national team play again on Friday (23), at 1 pm, against Zimbabwe, for the second round, while the South Africans will face Egypt.
