Africa-Press – Angola. More than five thousand jobs, direct and indirect ones, were created in Angola by the North American mobile phone operator Africell since the start of its operations in the southern African country, in April 2022.
The information was confirmed on Friday, in Luanda, by Africrll’s Board Chairman, Jorge Vasquez.

He reiterated the company’s willingness to be part of Angola’s digital transformation process, but also in Africa in general.
In turn, Africell’s executive director, Ziad Dalloul, explained that the said value of investment served for the company to install 800 aerials and build 400 kilometres of optical fibre, among other technological undertakings.
He said although Angola is the latest country to integrate the group, it has already started to be an example in the construction of a 5G network and the supply of innovative services.
He guaranteed that the business group is also focused on improving its services in Angola, through the use of Artificial Intelligence.
On his turn, the chargé d’affaires of the USA embassy in Angola, James Story, highlighted Africell’s investment in Angola, in the area of telecom infrastructures, an initiative that will continue.
The ceremony was attended by the Angolan minister of Industry and Trade, Rui Miguês, among other personalities.
Currently, Africell has roughly five million clients in Angola, a market that has two other more mobile phone companies operating in it, namely Unitel and Movicel.
