Africa-Press – Angola. The Angola coach Pep Clarós announced on Monday (11) the 12 players he will use in the 31st Edition of the African Basketball Championship (Afrobasket2025), kicking off on Tuesday (12) in the provinces of Luanda and Namibe.
From the group of 15 athletes who completed the training stage in July in Spain, German Ali Obama evolving at Avenida Club of Spain, Marcelo João (1o de Agosto), and Adão Francisco (Vila Clotilde) were left out.
The final list consists of:
Eduardo Francisco (Benfica of Portugal), Bruno Fernando (Real Madrid of Spain), Sílvio Sousa (Aris BC of Greece), Keven Kokila (JL Bourg-En-Bresse of France), Gilson Bango (Fenerbahçe of Turkey), João Fernandes (Sporting of Portugal).
The group is completed by Aboubakar Gakou (Petro de Luanda), Macachi Braz (Coruña Basket of Spain), Milton Valente (1o de Agosto), Selton Miguel (Maryland Terrapins NCAA-USA), Gelson Gonçalves (Aix Maurienne Savoie of France), and Childe Dundão (Petro de Luanda).
The National Team is in Group C, based in Namibe Province and faces Libya on Tuesday (12), for the 1st round (7:00 PM) at the Kilamba Pavilion (Luanda), after the opening ceremony of the continental event.
Angola has won 11 titles, with the last one being in 2013 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
