Development of modern and competitive infrastructure, a diversified and prosperous economy, promotion of a resilient and sustainable ecosystem, guaranteeing a fair nation with equal opportunities.

The PDN 2023/2027 is a medium-term planning instrument, which is based on several axes, such as consolidating peace and the democratic rule of law, continuing the reform of the State, justice, public administration, media and freedom of expression and civil society.

The deputies, who have been meeting in Bié since Saturday, also discussed, this Tuesday, the MPLA-2024 Political Agenda, under the guidance of the president of the Parliamentary Group, Joaquim António dos Reis Júnior.

At the end of today’s debates, the spokesperson for these II Conferences, Ribeiro Uefo, highlighted, in statements to the press, that parliamentarians are now moving towards direct contact with citizens, in the nine municipalities of this province. They will be divided into groups of 12 or 13 deputies.

Ribeiro Uefo added that, in these municipalities of Cuito, Andulo, Cuemba, Camacupa, Cunhinga, Nhârea, Chitembo, Catabola and Chinguar, the people’s representatives in the National Assembly will also inspect works or infrastructures built within the scope of the Integrated Intervention Program in Municipalities (PIIM).

More dynamism

The first secretary of the MPLA in Bié, Pereira Alfredo, said, on the occasion, that the country is experiencing a period of changes that require greater dynamism in government actions from leaders and activists.

The leader pointed to the implementation of the Local Authorities and the Political-Administrative Division project as essential tasks for improving socio-economic life in the communities.

Pereira Alfredo shared the idea at the meeting with deputies from the MPLA Parliamentary Group who, since last weekend, have been participating in the II Conferences taking place, under the motto “MPLA – Serving the People and Making Angola Grow”.

The first secretary of the “comrades” party in Bié said that the Executive’s proposal to change the political and administrative configuration of some regions of the country will require hard work from everyone to find solutions to current problems.

“It is an important currency to take into account, especially in the parliamentary sessions of the Assembly, as these are new territories, devoid of infrastructure, which will require the synergy of all the powers of the structure of the Angolan State”, highlighted Pereira Alfredo.

The politician added that all sectors of the MPLA, from top to bottom, must work harder, so that the conditions for integrated infrastructure are created in localities to be elevated to the categories of provinces, municipalities and communes, pointing out that the participation of Ministerial Departments in effect.

Priority actions in Bié

Pereira Alfredo took advantage of the parliamentary conferences to present the province’s needs and challenges, with priority being given to resolving the problem of children outside the education system.

Of the structuring actions in the province, the first secretary of the MPLA highlighted the construction of 26 new schools, for Primary Education, with works planned in the current financial year.

The urgent construction of water systems in the municipalities of Camacupa, Andulo, Catabola and Chinguar, and in the commune of Cunje, whose population is deprived of these basic services, is also included in the “envelope” of priorities presented to deputies.

Pereira Alfredo highlighted that the province is experiencing exponential growth, but that it is not being accompanied by the construction of infrastructure capable of meeting the population’s desires.

“Within the scope of central subordination programs, the population of Bié needs the construction of National Road 250, in the section of the Cunje commune/municipalities of Catabola, Camacupa and Cuemba, a fundamental pillar for promoting the development of the province, in parallel with the Lobito Corridor”, he said.

Social dynamics

The president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, Joaquim Júnior, said that the party “walks around the country”, obeying social dynamics to understand and adapt governance policies to the habits and customs of the people.

According to the politician, to “make Angola grow”, MPLA leaders, especially those present in Parliament, need to be permanently with the communities, to be efficient and effective in materializing social strategies within the National Assembly.

For Joaquim Júnior, serving the people requires following a “strategy previously established by the party” that is best for the desires of those governed.

The Parliamentary Days, reiterated the president of the Parliamentary Group, serve all deputies who represent the party in the “Casa das Leis”, to better assimilate and disseminate the strategic guidelines of the MPLA’s political agenda, with topics that are most pressing in national political life.

Joaquim Júnior said that the agenda of parliamentarians from the “comrades” party, being debated in Bié, is allowing tools to be gathered to fulfill the objectives of the motto “Serving the People and Making Angola Grow”. the leader reaffirmed all his commitment to carrying out his duties as deputies, adding that the days are serving as a moment of reflection, learning and rigor. “We will be critical and self-critical, as the MPLA teaches us, with the capacity to know how to listen and the wisdom to correct what is wrong with being and doing as a virtue of great men”, he emphasized.

The work of the 2nd MPLA Parliamentary Conference continues today with internal debates, with debates on the implementation of Local Authorities and the Political and Administrative Organization of the State highlighted on the agenda, to be discussed by Adão de Almeida and Sara Duarte Lopes.
