Africa-Press – Angola. Carrinho Agri (an agricultural company belonging to the Carrinho Group) expects to produce, this year, 150,000 tons of different crops, such as beans, corn, wheat, soy, rice and cotton.
According to its administrator, David Maciel, the company is in a period of expansion, as it will go from controlling 60,000 families to 150,000, starting in August of this year.
Regarding agricultural spaces, he informed that it will increase from 8,700 hectares to 25,000, which shows an exponential growth that goes in line with the goals set.
“Our initial objective was to reach 52,000 families and work with the largest farms in Angola, entering into other agricultural projects and livestock, because we also have feed production”, he clarified.
According to him, it is also the company’s intention to help ranchers to increase the production of animal proteins and meat, to add value to what they are creating.
In terms of goals, he said that the company has not imported corn since September last year and intends to see if, in the first harvest of the second cycle, the same thing is done with beans.
Still on corn, he considers it guaranteed that the processing factory will not stop, due to the amount of raw material produced in the country.
However, he made it known that there are certain crops that still need to be imported, some to maintain the balance between national production and imports, while others because their implementation is more difficult at the local level because they are not yet in the “DNA” of the producers.
David Maciel also referred to some gains, such as starting production of some wheat varieties, to adapt to the climate and doing the same thing with rice and soy, starting slowly, as it is a long-term crop.
“The most important thing for us is the satisfaction of the farmer, because it is a guarantee of working with us for several years”, considered the administrator.
In his opinion, knowledge, training and implementation take a little more time, but guaranteed, Carrinho Agri will increasingly reduce imported products and replace them with national ones.
Carrinho Agri carries out its actions in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Huíla, Cuanza Sul and Malanje.
