Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, appointed Friday, Aviation General Altino Carlos José dos Santos to the position of Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.
In a previous decree, the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) dismissed General Altino Carlos José dos Santos as commander of the National Air Force (FAN).
Altino dos Santos replaces Army General António Egídio de Sousa e Santos, exonerated yesterday by the President of the Republic, within the scope of his constitutional prerogatives and after hearing the National Security Council.
According to a note from the Press Secretary of the President of the Republic, the Head of State also exonerated General José Luís Caetano Higino de Sousa from the position of Director General of the External Intelligence Service, having been replaced by Matias Bertino Matondo.
João Lourenço also exonerated Lieutenant General Artur Santos Vinama from the position of adviser to the Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, and appointed him Deputy Chief of the General Staff for the Operational Area and Development.
The Commander-in-Chief also appointed General Adão Adriano António to the position of chairman of the Superior Council of Military Discipline of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.
General João Serafim Kiteculo was also appointed as commander of the Army and Lieutenant General João Cruz da Fonseca as 2nd commander of the Army.
General Virgínio António da Cunha Pinto is the new commander of the National Air Force and his deputy is Lieutenant General Emanuel Mendes Vasconcelos, while Vice Admiral Noé Rodrigues João Magalhães is 2nd commander of the Angolan Navy.
General Sequeira João Lourenço was appointed deputy head of the Military House of the President of the Republic.
