Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Kingdom of Spain, Alfredo Dombe, was accredited, Thursday, at the UN – Tourism headquarters, in Madrid, as the country’s permanent representative in the organization

According to a note during a meeting with the Secretary General of the UN – TOURISM, Zurab Pololikashvili, the diplomat highlighted, among the challenges, the revitalization of diplomatic relations and economic cooperation, especially at the level of Tourism, between the Angolan State and the organization.

Alfredo Dombe also discussed the possibility of Angola’s candidacy for the UN-Tourism Executive Council in 2025.

The Executive Council is the organization’s permanent body responsible for ensuring the achievement of its objectives and ensuring budgetary discipline. In 2025, five of the 11 places allocated to Africa will become available.

Other topics were discussed at the hearing, namely the approval by the Angolan Executive of Presidential Decree No. 189/23, which establishes the legal regime for exemption and simplification of procedures for granting tourist visas for the country.

The current situation of the tourism sector in Angola and the approval of the National Tourism Plan (PLANATUR) were also reasons for conversation.

Likewise, the possibility of partnerships and collaborations with UN-Tourism was discussed, to promote sustainable tourism and attract foreign investment, towards the construction of infrastructure, including hotel units.

The promotion of initiatives for professional training and training of national staff in the sector also received the attention of interlocutors, so that Angola can improve the quality of services and the visitor experience.

The Republic of Angola joined the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), today UN-Tourism, in 1989, during the organization’s 8th General Assembly, held in the city of Paris (France) at the end of September and beginning of September. October of that year.
