Ana Baliza wins Book Design Award 2022

Africa-Press – Angola. The ‘designer’ Ana Baliza won the Book Design Award 2022 with the work “A Third Reason”, by Alexandre Estrela, which both edited, announced yesterday the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB).

In a statement sent to Lusa by DGLAB, it can be read that the “jury considered that the book, ‘extremely thought out and executed, reveals a sincere commitment to a traditional book model – illustrated, for example, by the option for the hardcover”‘.

“The jury also added the ‘extremely conscious disruptive character, which combines the form – in a harmonious unfolding of the pages – with the content, clearly referring to the genesis of the poem that is presented throughout the pages, generated through infinite recombinations”‘ , added the same text.

The book consists of “poems generated from the infinite declension of the theme ‘When I was Young’ by Genesis P-Orridge”, according to the text of the presentation of the work, which took place at Galeria Zé dos Bois, in Lisbon, in March.

Two special mentions were also given, to the books “1961-1992 Japan”, with design and edition by And Atelier (João Araújo and Rita Huet), and “Encontros de Novas Dramaturgias, 5th Edition”, with ‘design’ by Macedo Cannatà and edition of Colectivo 84.
