Africa-Press – Angola. The numbers of mobile phone subscribers in the country have been growing satisfactorily in recent years, reaching, by December 2023, around 23 million, 977 thousand and 537 users.

These data were made public in a note from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, on the occasion of World Telephone Day, which is celebrated 10th.

In the note, he adds that this growth, which is around 76.47% of the Angolan population, has also been the result of investments made by the authorities.

Points out that, in recent years, the Executive has invested heavily in building Telecommunications/ICT infrastructure in order to ensure that the essential conditions for the use of electronic communications services, telephones and other means, are regularly available to the entire population at affordable prices and with expected quality.

He adds that programs and projects are being implemented, such as the National Broadband Strategy, the National Space Programme, Digital Terrestrial Television, the Plan for Sharing Active and Passive Infrastructures, National Roaming, which, in addition to others, has facilitated the opening of the market for entry of new operators.

On March 10, 1876, the first transmission was made through a voice device, by Graham Bell, saying: “Mr. Watson, come here. I need to speak with you.”

At this time, the name of telephone was assigned to the device, which is why March 10th is celebrated all over the world as Telephone Day.

The telephone is today an important means of communication and connection that has changed humanity.
