Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, received, this Monday, in Luanda, the Indian ambassador to Angola, Vidhu P. Nair, with whom he discussed matters of common interest, with emphasis on the reactivation of the joint commission.

According to a press release,the two entities took advantage of the moment to assess the state of bilateral cooperation, especially with regard to political-diplomatic, economic, commercial and social aspects.

On the occasion, Minister Teté António highlighted that the Angolan Executive recognizes the role that India has played in the economic development of Angola in the different areas of cooperation that already exist.

In turn, Ambassador Vidhu P. Nair said that India wants to see its cooperation implemented in the area of ​​digital technology, a tool that he considered fundamental to boost business and transform realities.

India established diplomatic relations with Angola in 1985 and, since then, has maintained cooperation considered “extremely cordial”.

It is Angola’s third largest trading partner, sharing around 10% of foreign trade, mainly due to the purchase of crude and bulk oil.

Since 2021, bilateral trade has been growing, reaching US$3.2 billion, with an increase in Indian exports to Angola valued at US$452 million.
