Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, witnessed in Rome, the signing of an agreement between the Degli Studi Roma Tre University and the National Institute for the Management of Scholarships (INAGBE), and another with the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy.

Both acts are part of the first two-day State visit by President João Lourenço to Italy, whose results, in the minister’s opinion, exceeded expectations and reinforced the bases for new areas of cooperation.

Leaving the Degli Studi Roma Tre University, where he witnessed the signatures, the official told the press that the partnership with INAGBE has to do with sending Angolan students to the Italian institution, known for its depth of research into social issues.

As for the agreement between the Italian university and the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, minister Téte António stressed that Angola’s ambitions require the existence of qualified diplomats in terms of analysis, understanding of phenomena and negotiation.

In the future, the Angolan side intends that the cooperation with the Italian university advance in the sense that the said training is also carried out in Angola and benefit a greater number of students.

“These two agreements will be a basis for developing cooperation with the Angolan Government and with Angolan academic institutions”, said Raffaele Marchetti, dean for international relations at the Degli Studi Roma Tre University.

The academy confirmed that one of the agreements allows Angolan students to attend the Degli Studi Roma Tre University, through scholarships.

Raffaele Marchetti considered the understanding an important step and informed that the university where he works already has some Angolan students.

“The idea of the agreement is to offer the same possibility to other students”, said the official, adding that the Degli Studi Roma Tre University is bilingual, “but most courses are taught in English”.

The university center is among the top fifty in the world in political and diplomatic sciences.

Meanwhile, regarding the visit that the Angolan President made to Italy, minister Téte António, underlined that the “Italian Government has demonstrated, with gestures and substance” a high willingness to cooperate with Angola.

According to the head of Angolan diplomacy, the action of the Italian Government has placed Angola at a very high bar among its trading partners.

“We must salute the openness that the Italian authorities have shown in the negotiations,” he declared.

Currently, the two countries cooperate, fundamentally, in the sectors of energy, agriculture, defense and transport.
