Angola and Japan sign Note Exchange Agreement

Africa-Press – Angola. A Note Exchange Agreement referring to the new, non-refundable concession in the field of mineral resources was signed this Tuesday, in Luanda, by the governments of Angola and Japan.

This is a donation from the Japanese Executive to Angola that aims to leverage and boost the implementation of projects and programs in the mining sector in the country.

Signatories of the aforementioned legal instrument, on the Angolan side, were the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Domingos Vieira Lopes, and the Japanese ambassador to Angola, Suzuki Toru.

On the occasion, Domingos Vieira Lopes highlighted that the amount is estimated at three million US dollars to support various programs and projects of the Geological Institute of Angola, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petr oil and gas (MIREMPET).

He highlighted that the exchange of notes is a formality widely used in diplomacy to confirm the implementation of cooperation agreements and in this case it involves the supply of specific material to carry out its activity accordingly.

He highlighted that cooperation with Japan has focused on support in other areas, from agriculture and energy and water, telecommunications, as well as technical assistance.

He highlighted, already signed, the agreement for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments, which in time will allow greater entry of Japanese investors into Angola and perhaps Angolans into Japan.

The Japanese ambassador, Suzuki Toru, said that this agreement will provide the institute with several analysis equipment with modern sensors that should be used in geological studies throughout the national territory.

He added that Japan has contributed to the socio-economic development of Angola, mainly providing financial assistance for demining and medical equipment.

He stated that this cooperation incorporates the concept of “partners growing together”, with the aim of accelerating the development of the Angolan economy and serving as a guide for future investments.

Angola and Japan have solid cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic-business, technical education and training, health, telecommunications and information technology fields, among others.
