Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Liberia expressed, this Friday, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), the need to implement existing legal instruments of cooperation and the expansion of bilateral relations, identifying new and pragmatic actions of common interest, a diplomatic source.

The intention was expressed by the Angolan ambassador to Eiópia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and UNECA, Miguel César Bembe, and his Liberian counterpart, Louise Sharene Manaweh Bailey, in a meeting at the Angolan embassy, ​​in which analyzed the state of bilateral cooperation.

Both countries signed in September 2011 the General Cooperation Agreement in the Economic, Commercial, Technical, Scientific and Cultural domains between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the Government of the Republic of Liberia and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Consultation Mechanism Policies between the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On May 27, 2022, the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço , and his Liberian counterpart, George Weah, held a meeting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary African Union Summit on Humanitarian Issues and Donors Conference, during which they envisaged the strengthening of bilateral relations.
