Africa-Press – Angola. An “Act of Commitment” to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries was signed this Thursday, in Luanda, by the Republics of Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The legal instrument, during the First Meeting of the Monitoring Committee for the Verbal Process of Angola-São Tomé Strategic Cooperation, was signed by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, and by Afonso Varela, advisor to the Prime Minister of São Tomé.
According to a press release, in essence, the aforementioned document consists of redefining a new cooperation strategy between the two States, in the political, business, trade, tourism, transport, oil and gas, among other sectors.
Meeting
Delegations from Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe met, under the Verbal Cooperation Process Monitoring Committee, with the aim of analyzing considerations related to the “strategic partnership for greater economic integration” between the two States and also the “promotion and attraction of private investment” from Angola to São Tomé and Príncipe and vice versa.
Within the scope of privileged cooperation between the two republics, its legal framework is based on the General Friendship and Cooperation Agreement, signed on February 19, 1978.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an African island country near the equator, located in the Gulf of Guinea. It has a population of around 160 thousand inhabitants and its main potential is coffee production, fishing, agriculture, tourism, among others.
