Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Vietnam signed this Thursday, in Luanda, two legal instruments with a view to expanding cooperation in different areas, with emphasis on higher education.

The legal instruments, signed during the VII Session of the Angola-Vietnam Bilateral Commission, were witnessed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria Bragança, and by the Minister of Education of Vietnam , Ngunyen Kim Son.

The parties recognized the importance of holding the Bilateral Commission as it constitutes an appropriate mechanism for increasing diplomatic relations and cooperation in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, higher education, among others.

Therefore, Minister Maria Bragança reiterated the reinforcement of economic cooperation and commercial exchanges, having considered official visits as an incentive to reciprocally promote investments.

He mentioned that the existence of several agreements or legal instruments is a very positive sign and a demonstration of the will to revitalize and boost bilateral cooperation, but the parties must continue to work to fulfill their purposes.

He stated that Angola intends to strengthen relations with Vietnam as much as possible, with the aim of making better use of its vast experience and “know how” in issues related to the diversification of the economy in order to reduce dependence on the import of raw materials.

He recalled that the Angolan market is quite advantageous and offers conditions for the success of any medium and long-term investments in the agricultural, industrial, tourist, mining, technological sectors, among others.

The Vietnamese official highlighted that the recent Session of the Vietnam-Angola Intergovernmental Committee served to continuously strengthen and expand comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting, he said, is a concrete testimony to the efforts of the two parties to promote multifaceted cooperation between the two States.

He recalled that in recent times the two parties have made efforts to implement the commitments made at the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in 2013 and the Bilateral Technical meeting in 2022 and achieved objectives in agreements related to the police, justice and human rights, health and agriculture.

He admitted that the results of bilateral cooperation are still modest and not proportional to the good friendship and potential of the two countries

He congratulated Angolans on the political, economic, cultural and social achievements they had achieved in recent times, especially after achieving definitive peace on April 4, 2002.

The Republics of Angola and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam maintain cooperation in several areas, namely in the sectors of Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Tourism, Commerce, Urban Planning and Housing, Health, Education and Sports.

In 1978, they signed, in Luanda, the General Cooperation Agreement that governs relations between the two countries.
