Africa-Press – Angola. The senior national judo team, both sexes, travels (Thursday), with four athletes, to compete in the World Championship, in the United Arab Emirates.
In the event, to be held from the 19th to the 24th of this month, in the city of Abu Dhabi, the Angolan team is made up of judokas Edmilson Pedro (-66kg), Leonel Barros (-60kg), Maria Niang (-70kg) and Piter Shuma (+100kg).
For the first day of competition, judoka Leonardo Barros will take action, on the 21st, with Edimilson Pedro, on the 23rd, Maria Niang, and on the last day, Piter Shuma.
Those selected prepared at their schools, with the support of coaches Alexandre Martins and Arminda Agostinho.
Piter Shuma (+100kg), Edmilson Pedro (-66kg) and Leonel Barros (-60kg) will try to score points, to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in France.
The Angolan caravan is led by the president of the Angolan Judo Federation, Gildo Santo.
