Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, held this Tuesday a meeting with the four sectoral “Ombudsman”, having addressed aspects on the establishment of institutional cooperation bases.

These are the Ombudsmen for the Flemish Federal Region, Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the President of the Belgian Network of Ombudsmen and the Mediator of Brussels.

The exchange of experience and sharing of good practices was the main point of the meeting, says the Ombudsman in a note.

At the meeting, the Angolan ambassador accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mário Constantino, provided information on Angolans residing in Belgium.

On the occasion, the diplomat received explanations about the structure and functioning of the different Ombudsmen of the Kingdom of Belgium.

In the afternoon, Florbela Araújo exchanged impressions with the two Presidents of the Constitutional Court, namely that of the French-speaking Region, Pierre Nihoul and that of the Flemish Region, Luc Lavrysen, on its composition, competence and functioning.

The two Presidents highlighted the role of the Angolan Ombudsman, both nationally and internationally.

Speaking to the local press, Florbela Araújo spoke about the purpose of her working visit to this European country, having shared the role of the citizen’s defense institution.

For Wednesday, the Ombudsman has scheduled a meeting with the director of the Federal Institute of Human Rights and with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium.

The Ombudsman’s work agenda also includes a consultation meeting with representatives of the Angolan Community residing in the Kingdom of Belgium.
