Africa-Press – Angola. The country is becoming increasingly digital and modern, said yesterday the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Augusto, at the presentation of Unitel’s North Submarine Cable System, in Cabinda province .

Mário Augusto, who was speaking at the presentation of the North Submarine Cable System, inaugurated yesterday, also underlined that with the cable connection Angola will be more united from Cabinda to Cunene.

According to the official, with the arrival of this cable to Cabinda and its interconnection to the national fiber optic cable network, the country will be moving towards what are everyone’s primary objectives – the transformation of Angola into a platform in the region.

It is also associated with those systems, said the minister, the satellite ecosystem, where the Government has made a large investment with Angosat-2, and everything that will come from the national space program.

The System, according to the official, brings the country closer and the Angolans too, and this serves as an important factor for unity, the economy and for contact between citizens.

“Angola has a goal in terms of accompanying what is the modernization of its economy, since we understand that its modernization involves robust infrastructures that meet what is most needed and exists in the outside world”, said the manager.

In this way, he continued, “we will be able to provide quality services to all our citizens, contributing to the improvement of social and living conditions, because after all, that is our objective”.

He stressed that telecommunications play a very important role in improving social and living conditions

He also stressed that communications play a very important role in this desideratum, “for this reason, we have been transforming our telecommunications into an African platform, which is why it has been an instrument, both on the part of the Government and of companies, in which Unitel has a very important highlight”.

“The sector continues to work on interconnection with neighboring countries and, in this context, already has connections to Namibia and the DRC and will soon reach Kigali/Rwanda and also the Republic of Congo Brazzaville, taking into account that the infrastructure -structure that arrived in Cabinda will be a contribution to what is the ecosystem that is being installed in the country”, said the minister.

Unitel’s north submarine cable, inaugurated yesterday in Cabinda, expands the company’s national fiber optic network to all provinces.

In Cabinda, the investment will allow the provision of high-speed mobile or fixed telecommunications services, with better quality, to the population, State institutions, public and private companies and other institutions.
