Africa-Press – Angola. Angola lost in the early hours of this Saturday against Morocco, 0-1, with an own goal from central defender David Carmo, in a match on the FIFA date.
In the game played at the Agadir Stadium, with more than 40 thousand spectators, it took a mistake from the Angolan defender, in the 71st minute, for the hosts to win.
Until before the unfortunate play that resulted in the solitary goal, the match was going on with shared dominance, with Mabululu being the main nuisance for the last Moroccan stronghold.
The striker, who plays for Al Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt, almost scored in the 12th minute when he headed a cross from debutant David Carmo.
Before the break, in the 41st minute, Mabululu was once again close to the goal. Heading in again, in response to a direct free kick, he deflected Bounou’s guard towards the cross post.
Throughout this period, the home team also threatened the goal defended by Neblú several times.
Hakimi and Brahim Dias, the latter a Real Madrid striker, were the most dangerous units for the last stronghold of the Palancas Negras (the name of the Angolan team).
Newcomer David Carmo fit in well with the national defensive sector, on a night of hard work, against the sensational team from the last world championship.
It was the eighth meeting in history between the two African teams since 1998, with one victory for Angola (2-0, in 2014) against five for Morocco (2-1, in 1998), (3-1, in 2004), (2-1, in 2008), (2-0, in 2009) and (1-0, in 2024).
Angola and Morocco, who recently competed at CAN`2024, drew twice (2-2 in 2006 and 0-0 in 2013).
The team will play again on Monday, with the Comoros Islands, in the second friendly match of the FIFA date, which will also be played on Moroccan soil, starting at 10 pm.
