Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Mexico created on Wednesday (22), a Parliamentary Friendship Group to promote political dialogue and stronger and more comprehensive cooperation between the two institutions.

According to a press release on Thursday (23), the event, chaired by Mexican MP Luís Fernando Vilchis Contreras, was attended by Angola’s ambassador to the United States of America, Agostinho Van-Dúnem, who also serves as non-resident ambassador to Mexico.

At the ceremony, which brought together Mexican parliamentarians, government representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to that Latin American country, MP Vilchis Contreras emphasized that the creation of the Friendship Group represents a bridge of communication and fraternity, which will strengthen political dialogue and promote stronger, more comprehensive cooperation between the two peoples.

In turn, Ambassador Agostinho Van-Dúnem considered that the new Mexico-Angola Parliamentary Friendship Group constitutes a fundamental instrument of cooperation and political dialogue, marking a new stage in relations between Angola and Mexico, united by common values, principles and aims of development and prosperity.

The Angolan diplomat reaffirmed Angola’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Mexico, with a particular focus on education, culture, economics, and techs, areas that, according to the Ambassador, have high potential to generate mutual benefits and drive sustainable growth for both nations.

During the session, the importance of academic exchange and diplomatic training was also in the table, as they are considered key elements for deepening mutual understanding and consolidating the historic friendship between the Angolan and Mexican peoples.

The creation of the Mexico-Angola Parliamentary Friendship Group thus constitutes a significant step in strengthening political and institutional relations between the two countries, reinforcing their commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, and South-South cooperation, the pillars that guide their foreign policies.
