Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA general secretary, Paulo Pombolo, stated Wednesday, in Huambo, that Angola needs talented young people who are properly scientifically prepared for ongoing programs within the scope of social and economic development.
The party leader spoke to the press, moments after his arrival in Huambo, to guide the opening of the 19th edition of the National Holiday Camp for University Students (CANFEU), taking place from the 5th to the 8th of this month, in this region of the country.
According to the general secretary of the MPLA, the country needs talented men to take care of the major programs designed and provide solutions to problems linked to the well-being of the population.
He said he was in Huambo as part of a JMPLA initiative, to address, on Thursday, the opening act of the 19th of CANFEU and, at the same time, interact with youth, to convey a message of motivation and encouragement for continued dedication to studies.
CANFEU will take place on one of the farms in the municipality of Caála, and expects to bring together more than a thousand young people, representing the country’s 18 provinces, of which 100 are from Huambo, under the motto “University Youth Love the Homeland and Make Angola Grow”.
Overall, the 19th edition of CANFEU holds, among others, conferences with themes related to the country’s socio-political and economic development, cultural and gastronomic exhibitions, a blood donation campaign and visits to a number of tourist sites and infrastructures in Huambo.
The 18th edition of CANFEU took place from August 1st to 4th, 2022, in Luanda, the country’s capital, with the province of Cabinda as the winner.
CANFEU is a national event, organized by JMPLA, whose scope of intervention is based on volunteering and solidarity actions, promoting education for citizenship as well as cultural and patriotic exaltation.
