Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participates in the 13th meeting of the Steering Committee of the Forum of General Inspections of African States and Similar Institutions (FIGE), taking place on the 24th and 25th of October, in Djibouti.
According to a press release, the meeting, with the guaranteed participation of the inspector general of the State Administration, Ângelo Veiga Tavares, aims to develop the work of the general inspections of African States, the investigation, audit and evaluation of public policies, as well as the implementation of inspection standards adaptable to the demands of our time.
FIGE is a pan-African organization, created in Djibouti in 2006, with headquarters in its capital, and its meetings contribute to the necessary reflection on the reforms to be implemented to reinforce the effectiveness of internal control institutions, as well as promoting sharing experiences in preventing and detecting corruption.
General state inspections represent a central issue in Africa in terms of good governance, administration and transparency of public bodies, by providing greater efficiency in the management of state resources, by combating illicit actions and promoting a culture of good practices, and play a particularly important role in modern development processes.
Upon his arrival, the inspector general of the State Administration, Ângelo Veiga Tavares, received courtesy greetings from the Angolan ambassador to Djibouti and held meetings with the organization’s secretary general, Hassan Issa Sultan, and general inspectors from the countries that make up the Committee Director of FIGE.
Angola occupies the Vice-Presidency of the Forum, and is expected to assume the Presidency next year, during the General Assembly that will take place in Luanda.
